Desert and Sea of Shark Bay

Experience the unparalleled beauty of Western Australia through the lens of renowned international landscape photographer, Karl Monaghan. This stunning piece of art photography, part of Karl’s Mid West Collection, captures an aerial perspective of the stark desert of Shark Bay meeting the cool waters of the Indian Ocean, a testament to Australia’s diverse and dramatic landscapes.

Shark Bay, situated at the most westerly point of the Australian continent, is a place where the land tells stories of the ages. Its rolling red sand hills, the heart of the Peron Peninsula, are ancient and constantly changing, whispering tales of a time when land that was dry during the last ice age is now flooded and seagrasses grow where wallabies once roamed.

Contrasting this ancient land, the cool waters of the Indian Ocean, beautifully patterned with seagrass meadows, channels, and banks, cover about 70% of the Shark Bay World Heritage Area, home to unique marine life and living fossils. It is this dynamic interplay of land and sea, encapsulated in “Desert and Sea of Shark Bay”, that makes this piece a must-have for lovers of Australian landscape photography.
