Soaring Gulls

In the heart of the Houtman Abrolhos, there exists an island – a sanctum of biodiversity, a tapestry of life. Here, the air vibrates with the excited fluttering of wings, the calls of diverse avian species filling the air. This is Wooded Island, part of the Easter Group, immortalized here in the Abrolhos Island photography of Karl Monaghan in his piece “Soaring Gulls”.

The seagulls, caught in a moment of synchronized flight, their forms merging with the winds that carry them transport you to the windy Island foreshore. This is more than just a scene; it is a captivating performance of nature, frozen in time and presented as photographic wall art.

But the magic does not end there. The island is one of only two places globally where the non-migratory lesser noddy takes refuge to breed, a testament to the isolation and untouched beauty of this Western Australian island group. The “Soaring Gulls” print is a symbol of this unique biodiversity, a snippet of a world where sea life in all its forms thrives in abundance.
