The Convent Greenough Settlement

The ancient wind whispers tales of the earliest settlers as you gaze upon “The Convent Greenough Settlement”. This magnificent piece of Midwest photography captures the serene beauty of the old Presentation Convent at the heart of the Greenough Settlement centre. Here, brave pioneers once wrestled with the harsh realities of nature, facing both drought and devastating floods from the Greenough River, in their relentless pursuit of a life in farming.

History is etched in every nook and cranny of this artwork, emblematic of a once-thriving community whose spirit was tested at the dawn of the 20th century. Despite the adversities, the very walls of this Convent witnessed resilience, perseverance, and the indomitable Australian spirit. Now, as a recognized national trust site, it stands as a poignant reminder of the pioneers of our past.
