The Presbytery Greenough
Journey with us to the vast terrains of Greenough in Western Australia and uncover a piece of Midwest photography that captures the very essence of Australia’s yesteryears. “The Presbytery Greenough,” shot with impeccable precision by the internationally acclaimed landscape photographer, Karl Monaghan, offers viewers a deeply evocative glimpse into Australia’s rich past.
Constructed in the turn of the 20th century, The Presbytery stands as a testament to Greenough’s vibrant history. For over three decades, it served as a sanctuary for the local priest, with the renowned Monsignor John Hawes, the celebrated wheatbelt architect, being its last eminent occupant. After his poignant departure, the edifice transformed into a nurturing environment, becoming a boarding school for boys, shaping their futures amidst its historically charged walls. As one gazes upon this photograph, the whispers of these priests and students reverberate, weaving a tale of legacy, leadership, and the lessons of time.
As part of Karl Monaghan’s illustrious Mid West Collection, this piece of art photography is not just a snapshot; it’s a storytelling canvas. Each nook and cranny of The Presbytery, each shadow and light play, each brick, and each corner tells tales of Australian landscapes, of history, and of moments frozen in time.
